 ⚖️ Accountability for Brazilian Supreme Court Ministers and Authoritarian Regimes in Latin America ⚖️ The international community cannot ignore what is happening in Brazil and across Latin America. Alexandre de Moraes, Flávio Dino, Cristiano Zanin, Cármen Lúcia, Gilmar Mendes, Luís Roberto Barroso, Dias Toffoli, and Edson Fachin have been directly associated with decisions that represent serious violations of human rights, suppression of freedom of speech, and political persecution. But the problem extends beyond Brazil. Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua, and other socialist regimes in Central and South America have followed the same authoritarian path, silencing the opposition, persecuting dissidents, and destroying democratic institutions. In a true democracy, no judge and no government stands above the Constitution and human rights. When magistrates or leaders abandon impartiality and act as political enforcers, they must be treated as human rights violators. 📌 For this reason, we urge the application of Global Magnitsky Act sanctions not only against these Brazilian figures, but also against Maduro, Ortega, and other authoritarian socialist governments in the region.
